This is another interesting mesh of old and new. This beat is one of the oldest ones on this project. I made or at least finished it sometime during the year of 2006, and I know that because there is a Steve Martin sample from the 2006 Pink Panther movie: “ah yes politics, where greed wears the mask of morality.” I always thought that was a dope quote. The other vocal sample saying “crooked politicians” came from a pretty interesting record called “Communist Cancer”. Most of the drums and the bass sample that comes in around 00.37 seconds were from a Kanye West drums library. The other sounds were from other libraries and vinyl records. I sat on this beat for many years and refused to let it be forgotten. I thought for sure that CasetheJoint was going to rap on this, but he never got around to it. I finally found some inspiration to write during the 2012 Presidential campaigns. I wrote this verse, recorded it, and uploaded it to my Reverbnation page on the Presidential Election Day of 2012. The version you hear now has been professionally mixed and mastered. I recruited my friend and former DJ for The Other Elements, DJ Johnny Sixx, to put the finishing touches on the track. He really came through with some dope and historically relevant stuff. For some reason, or no reason at all, we didn’t speak to or see each other for almost seven years. It was good to re-connect with him this year....
