Occasionally I run out of my own creative juices and I need some new inspiration. On October 24th of 2013 I put a post on my Facebook fan page asking for fans to post a dope industry beat for me to rap on. Among the responses was this beat, posted via YouTube link by a fan by the name of Tyler Henry. I didn’t get a chance to write on it for a couple days, but the beat stuck in my mind and I made it a point to get back to it and write something. When I finally got the time to write; the first verse just poured out of me. Ever since I started working on this project and trying to complete all the unfinished tracks I hadn’t recorded or released, I kind of quit working on new music. Sometimes I struggle with making new music when my head is full of unfinished songs, but by this time I had all my songs recorded and a pretty clear mind. The second verse flowed pretty smooth too, and since this was a response to a fan post; I promptly recorded a video of myself reciting it in the studio and posted it on YouTube on November 6th 2013. When I shared and promoted the video on Facebook I asked people to tell me if they liked it and to let me know if I should put it on this project. However, I had already decided to add it to the project anyway. This song has a lot of personal meaning in it which is probably why it was so easy to write. I’ve had the opportunity to perform this song two or three times now and it’s been accepted with a great embrace. I actually just heard J. Cole’s version of this song for the first time on December 23rd, 2013, it was alright. Some people say my version is better; you can be the judge….
