This song is an interesting mesh of old and new. The beat is one of my live performance tracks in which I bang out the intro and all the 8 bar choruses on the MPC and rap over a hook that I manipulate in real time. This beat is also a prime example of me being a mad scientist in the studio; I have absolutely no idea what record the samples came from. I’m pretty sure the drums were from sound libraries though. The first verse was written sometime between late 2009 and late 2010 for a collaborative track with my friends Black Lung and Ayvee from Rockford, IL. Both are referenced in the line “some are mouses of men, others bigger than elephants” in regards to their respective sizes. Unfortunately the song was never completed, but I always liked my verse so I kept it in mind, literally. The second verse was written between 2008 and 2009 but it really has me drawing a blank as to what beat I wrote it to. I do know that the verse was applied on many occasions as the stand-in second verse during performances of CasetheJoint’s “Outta Here” which was originally a collaboration of CasetheJoint and E-Thin from Rockford, IL. This was always fun, but in the end I was left with another good but solitary verse. The third verse was written between 2011 and 2012 on an incredible beat by my good friend and former recording engineer Afro Jesus. I never finished writing on the beat though. There was a major transition/transformation that threw my inspirational mojo off, and because of a computer crash and loss of data he couldn’t alter the beat. God damn that still sucks to think about; he had some bangers in there. The final ended up being something I’m proud of along with a sense of accomplishment with regards to all those verses I had laying around….
