I decided to add this beat to the project because it’s one of the first beats I started performing live with the MPC2000XL. This is actually the third beat I made for live performance purposes and this beat is a prime example of me being a mad scientist in the studio; I have absolutely no idea what record the samples came from. I’m pretty sure the drums were from sound libraries and though it only makes an appearance during the chorus parts of the beat, the drum roll sound was the main sound that started this beat. I like using realistic drum sounds and arranging them in a way that makes them sounds natural, as if a real drummer was playing them. The drums sounds on this beat are butter! Super smooth, I can bang out some dope breaks with them. The vocal chops make up the rest of the beat and I added a bass line in Logic that really brought it all together. During performances I bang out the intro and all the 8 bar choruses on the MPC and rap over a hook that I manipulate in real-time.
